A 3 day self drive tour to Reims.
This is an excellent short break idea to witness the beauty of Reims and explore the Circuit De Reims - Gueux.
Not only will you have the chance to see the famous circuit at Reims, but also enjoy the most famous of French Wines.
Depart Dover on your choice of sailing to the French Port of Calais.
Reims is a pleasant 2 hour 30 minute drive from the port making it a perfect location for a short break.
Your hotel in Reims will be the Novotel Tinqueux, this 4 star hotel is just a 10 minute drive to the old circuit and a few minutes from the centre of Reims.

Spending 2 nights at this hotel where you will be checked into a superior room will give you time to not only see the local area, but if you wish relax by the stunning hotel pool.

Reims, an architectural wonder in its own right, is bursting with Gothic splendour. Nowhere is this more apparent than with its cathedral, grand enough to host coronations for French monarchs for hundreds of years.

Reims lies at the heart of Frances Champagne region, aging the famous sparkling wine in labyrinthine tunnels under the city. Many producing houses open for tasting and tours if youre eager for a taste!
Rolling French Hills
A non profit organization (Les Amis du Circuit de Gueux) is working to preserve the old pit building, grandstands and other remaining structures of the circuit and actively support historic meetings which use the 1952 Circuit d'Essais.

It is still possible to drive a lap of the old 1926 and 1952 versions of the track, all be it with a few changes.
The 1926 and 1952 circuit layouts
Driving the old circuit today. The old RN31 straight between Muizon and Thillois is a wider, dual carriageway though it does follow the same line as the original 2 lane road of the former circuit.
Driving the 1926 circuit will take you through the centre of Gueux
The 1952 circuit, is ok except for the old Garenne -junction which was destroyed as part of the RN31 modernization.
It is no longer possible to complete a lap of the circuit used from 1953 onwards as the tarmac between Bretelle Nord and Muizon has been removed.
After a wonderful 2 nights at the hotel take the drive back to Calais for your return ferry to Dover.
